This wine is the fruit of a union of two vineyards in Brunate—80%—and Le Coste—20%—that comprise an extension of 1.7ha, planted with 100% Nebbiolo grapes. The 2000 harvest yielded only 10,500 bottles and 400 magnums. Traditional vinification in wood casks for 25 days, followed by aging in large oak barrels for three years and six months of bottle-aging.
Notable among its characteristics is its vibrant garnet color, accented due to the aging process with typical orange highlights. Its nose has notes of raspberry, redcurrant and cherry preserves. Austere, severe, elegant in flavor, full-bodied and rich in layers and tannins. Long. With aging it becomes more ethereal and spiced, with characteristic aromas of cocoa, licorice, loam, leather and Tuscan tobacco leaves.
