Château d’Aurilhac 03

This Cru Bourgeois won a Gold Medal in 2005 at the Concours de Bordeaux. It is, quite simply, superb. Remarkably well structured and notably substantial, as one would expect from such a special vintage as 2003, when the sun heated up. Within its extraordinary body, which develops even further when left open for a while, it is elegant, silky and balanced. In the nose and on the mouth sensations of dark berry confit are noted, extending from a fine maturing process, combined with hints of licorice that offer freshness and idiosyncrasy.
45% cabernet sauvignon, 50% merlot, 2.5% petit verdot and 2.5% cabernet franc. 12 months in new barrels (35%). Bottled August 1, 2005.
