The wonderful nose reveals the personality of the variety that gives this wine its identity—70% Merlot, complemented by 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruity, seductive aromas in which notes of redcurrant and prunes appear and disappear, along with spices like cinnamon and vanilla as well as iodine and minerals. Character and elegance that comes through on the palate with subtle acidity and wood, honeyed tannins and marked complexity. It is potent and persistent, though it could be more compact. Finally, it is delicate and expressive, as befits a 1er Grand Cru Classé whose vines attain 35 years of age. Malolactic fermentation in new barrels for 18 months, with 80% new oak and 20% secondary.
